I deliberately inverted the peaceful Holy Place from earlier in 2013 for my end-of-2013 solo show God From the Machine. The solo show focused on mechanization and the sometimes sinister mating of the machine-world with the natural world, so letting this discord and unnatural atmosphere seep over Holy Place seemed like an effective way to evoke that. …it kind of hurt to do though!
Made in late 2013, this was a HUGE piece in my last solo show. As I made it I was thinking of some kind of impossible reactor core, superheated on one side and supercooled on the other, a little like the thing that held Akira.
Available as a print from my Society6.
This is a recent 2013 work from my last solo show! I named it after Kazuo Umezu’s amazing comic because his story dealt with a machine becoming sentient. For some reason my monstrous floating daisy achieving a sympathetic connection with a huge machine reminded me of reading this comic.
Oracle, a new piece completed for my last solo show. This is a digital collage using a pen and ink drawing of mine finished on the computer. Available as a print through Society6! Bigger size:
