The Cradle of the Worm novel free beta release on HorrorFam

A towering giant consisting of a man and woman fused back to back like the original conception of Ha-Adam, humankind. Set against a glowing forest hanging inverted from an enormous swollen moon. This past Monday I finally finished my first horror fantasy novel, The Cradle of the Worm, and released the beta version on HorrorFam.com on their Freebies page.

The entire text of the novel, as well as the first audio chapter, are all available there. My friends and I will continue to release free audio chapters of the text on podbean and youtube. Here are some scenes from the novel if you’d like a quick glimpse of what you’ll be getting. Continue reading

The Balance: Resurrection Field

a sinister man stands alone in a field of flowers.

Here we have a character of mine, Burke, standing in a field of chrysanthemums. This was originally intended to be the front cover of the first comic in The Balance series. The back cover would naturally feature my other Resurrection Man, Hare. I picked chrysanthemums simply because I love the movie Curse of the Golden Flower and so I will always associate this flower with sinister and horrible things.

The Resurrection Men pop up again here and here are my other old Balance art posts: More old comic art from The Balance || The White Robe || The Balance sketch001

More old comic art from The Balance

An unfinished splash page from my comic project The Balance.

I forgot to post this yesterday, whoops! Anyway, I’ve got plenty of old drawings and concepts from The Balance so I’ll just go ahead and throw another one out there. At the bottom I have a larger version since it’s a wide picture.

I’m deep in the middle of a bunch of contract work at the moment, but I plan to try and do one of my more detailed blog posts soon. Lots of shows to cover and review for example, and I have some animation projects coming up.

Resurrection Men

Two skeletal men look down from a mountain as the sun is beginning to rise, adjusting gloves on boney and fleshless wrists. From the novel The Cradle of the Worm by artist author Heather Landry.

I mentioned comics the other day. Here are a couple of characters of mine from a long-format comic I have on the docket. They’ve been around in my head for quite a long time! I call them “Resurrection Men” and after a couple of famous unsavory resurrection men (body snatchers) from the past I affectionately refer to them in my head as Burke and Hare. Burke is the one with the striped scarf and black hat and Hare is the one with the odd “brass magnolia” glasses.

I’m sure you can tell there’s something wrong about these gentlemen…this old post also features a sketch from the same comic. I’ll post more concept art from this work as I dig it up…in the middle of an equipment change!
